She was just congratulating herself on her stealthy getaway when a voice behind her made her swing round. Her left boot came off in the process but she was still ready for danger. Not for nothing had she taken those three kick-boxing classes. She was like a coiled spring ready to be unleashed on the unseen enemy. On turning however, the unseen enemy looked completely un-startled.
“You’re going in the wrong direction!” he hissed while pulling her into the recess of the next doorway. He looked faintly familiar.
“I need to get out. Where’s the exit in this crazy place?”
In the dim lighting Casey could hardly see his face. It was all suddenly too much, too unreal. The ridiculousness of her situation hit her like caffeine straight into her brain- she grabbed the stranger by the shoulders.
“WHAT IS GOING ON?” she shouted. “WHERE ARE WE? I’M LATE FOR MY INTERVIEW!”
The man gently removed her hands from his shoulders and motioned for her to step forward. Now in the light Casey saw that the man was about her age and dressed in a business suit.
“So am I,” he said with a little smile, “maybe this is it.”
